This was a piece I had on my design board since our first collection. I finally got around to developing and producing it. After all, how many hoodies can one person own!? I know, there is no limit and the search for the perfect hoodie never ends – which is why we have more hoodies in the pipeline for later this year. But for now, let's focus on the Campus Sweatshirt.

This garment came to life after discovering this exceptional 14oz brushed fleece we sourced here in Los Angeles. It's a substantial 100% cotton fabric with remarkable structure and breathability—warm enough for a cool summer night or LA winter's day. For construction enthusiasts, you'll appreciate how we've merged mid-century design elements with modern 90's-2000's details. We've crafted a D-Pocket style zip-up with triangular armpit gussets for enhanced mobility, implemented old world flatlock stitching for durability and comfort at the seams, and finished it with extended waistband and wrist cuffs while maintaining a contemporary athletic silhouette.

This garment came to be after finding this 100% cotton, 14oz brushed fleece we sourced here in Los Angeles. It's a heavy weight fabric that's breathable. Warm enough for a cool summer night or a chilly LA winter day. As for the details and design, I love taking some of the elements of the mid-century design and pairing them with some of the modern 90's-2000's details. In this case, we have a D-Pocket style zip-up, with triangular armpit gussets, utilizing old world flatlock stitching for durability and comfort at the seams, finished with with longer waistband and wrist cuffs but is sized similar to a modern athletic sweatshirt.

The washing process is critical to the hand feel. We put the fabric through a specialized wash that creates that perfectly broken-in super soft texture, reminiscent of a sweatshirt that's been through 1000 washes – only with more weight and structure. Each Campus Sweatshirt features thoughtful distressing: precision-grinded edges, rips, and paint stains. As in previous releases, finding the right balance of distress is essential to making these pieces visually appealing as it can turn a luxury garment into something you'd toss in the dumpster quickly (okay or maybe just too contrived).

We finished each piece with premium Riri zippers – Swiss-made hardware that exemplifies our commitment to quality components. This final detail embodies everything ATH stands for. Meticulous craftsmanship, heritage-inspired design, local production, and garments that build character over years of wear.
