While brainstorming new design ideas, I had a vision of a sun-bleached flannel. A shirt that's spent an abundant amount of time outside at the beach or in a field, exposed to wind and sun.
We anchored this concept and the warmth of the elements in the same block we used for our first ever washed down flannel shirt. Oversized in width, featuring a relaxed drop shoulder and slightly cropped length.
The flannel is a heavyweight 100% cotton, 12oz Japanese plaid fabric which I found during one our sourcing trips. I love dense fabrics like this as they tend to wash down really well. It took a few rounds of testing to get the colors just right to achieve a patina that looks warm, worn and seasonal.

A little less or too much and the results are not as pleasing to the eye. But like most of our pieces, the testing phase takes a significant amount of time and attention to make sure the finished garment is as close to the vision as possible.
Once we got the colors down, I went on the hunt for the proper snaps. Finding NOS (new old stock) purple pearl snaps really finished the shirt properly.
This is one of the few pieces we're releasing this year that still has a vintage look and feel while embodying the elements of a luxurious garment without a heavy amount of distressing. The perfect balance of a worn-in feel and a new garment.
See you at the beach or at Mt. Baldy.
